Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 35-year-old Lawrence man reported a burglary and theft to Lawrence police on Monday that occurred at Midwest Glass, 411 N. Iowa. He reported that an air conditioner was damaged and a Dell laptop and flash drive were stolen. Total estimated loss is $2,280.

¢ Lawrence police assisted Topeka police in recovering a stolen 1993 Honda Accord worth $4,000. The car had $150 in damage to the driver’s side door and ignition. The incident occurred between 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:28 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Stetson Place.

¢ According to a Kansas University Public Safety report, a change machine worth $1,750 was stolen from Strong Hall about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Condition reports

¢ Two Lawrence girls are in fair condition at different hospitals after they were injured in a collision Wednesday night in North Lawrence.

According to Lawrence police, Jackie Hewins, 16, was driving a 1992 Toyota Camry south on North Second Street and was struck by a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix traveling northbound on North Second Street. The Grand Prix was driven by Lacy Ingle, 17.

Hewins was extricated from the vehicle. Both drivers were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with injuries. Ingle is in fair condition at LMH. Hewins was transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., where she is in fair condition.

The accident occurred at 7:23 p.m. in the 600 block of North Second Street. Weather conditions are being investigated as a contributing factor.
