Fort Riley soldier killed in Humvee accident
KANSAS ? A soldier from Florida was killed in a Humvee roll-over accident in the maneuver area at Fort Riley, the Army said Thursday.
Sgt. Scott R. Turner, 30, of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., died Wednesday while serving as a transition team trainer. He was an M1 armor crewman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.
Turner entered the Army in June 2001 and joined the 1st Infantry Division later that year. He had been deployed once to Iraq.
Through transition team training, soldiers are trained to advise, teach, mentor and coach their counterparts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
