Army Reserve Pvt. Alex B. Curran and Pvt. David R. Stites have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldiers studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and received instruction and practice in physical fitness, basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Curran is the son of Jeff Curran, Lawrence, and Wendy Morris, Eudora. Stites is a 2005 graduate of Lawrence High School and the son of Jerry Stites, Lawrence.

¢Army Pvt. Carl E. Sly and Army National Guard Pfc. Johnathan Wilkerson have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldiers studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

Sly is the son of Rita Jolley, McLouth, and is a 2002 graduate of McLouth High School. Wilkerson is the son of Christian Hernandez, Tonganoxie.
