Lawrence tree headed to governor’s mansion
A Lawrence scotch pine now is about to reside at Cedar Crest.
The nine-foot tall evergreen from Strawberry Hill Christmas Tree Farm was taken today to the governor’s mansion in Topeka.
Eric and Lynn Walther have run the cut-your-own farm just west of Lawrence for more than twenty years, but this is their first time sending a tree to the governor.
They said they walked through their 13 acres, filled with 9,000 trees, until they found just the right one for Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.
The farm opens for the holiday season tomorrow at 10 a.m.
