TiCondra S. Swartz graduated from the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, known as “Operation Warrior Forge,” at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.

The 33-day course provides training and evaluation in military life, administration and logistical support. The primary focus of the course is to develop and evaluate each cadet’s potential as an officer. Cadets in their junior and senior year of college must complete the course.She is the daughter of Cynthia Glover-Jefferson and stepdaughter of Tracy Jefferson, Lawrence. Swartz is a 2000 graduate of Lawrence High School and attends Kansas University.

Lt. Jondavid Hertzel, of rural Baldwin City, graduated Oct. 19 from U.S. Air Force pilot training at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Okla. He graduated second in his class and will be flying the combat aircraft the F16 Falcon.

His graduation was the culmination of an intense year of training, after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., in June 2006. He is the son of David and Camille Hertzel of rural Baldwin City.

Army Reserve Pfc. Ricky J.R. Lockner has graduated from the nine-week basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Lockner is the son of Dawn O’Brien, Lawrence, and a 2005 graduate of Free State High School.
