Attorney named to casino review board

Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius has named her former chief counsel as chairman of a new state board that will decide which developers operate new casinos.

Sebelius made three appointments Friday to the casino review board under a law that allows state-owned casinos. Chairman Matt All served four years as the governor’s chief counsel and handled gambling issues for her administration.

All is a Lawrence attorney who now works for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas.

The governor also appointed James Bergfalk, of Mission, and Jacqueline Vietti, of El Dorado, to the board. Bergfalk is president of a communications company. Vietti is president of Butler Community College.

Legislative leaders will pick the board’s other four members.
