A.G. makes doctor stop discussing Tiller

Attorney General Paul Morrison on Tuesday forced a psychiatrist hired by his predecessor to stop publicly discussing records related to a dismissed criminal case against the state’s best-known abortion provider.

Dr. Paul McHugh, former chairman of the psychiatry department of Johns Hopkins University, questioned the mental health reasons Dr. George Tiller used to justify 15 late-term abortions performed in 2003. McHugh reviewed the records last year at the request of outgoing Attorney General Phill Kline.

McHugh’s assessment of the records became public Monday when the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue posted on its Web site video from an interview of McHugh by another organization that also wants Kline’s case revived.
