Injury accident

Two people were transported by air ambulance to area hospitals after a two-vehicle accident late Monday night. The accident occurred about 11:25 p.m. in the 800 block of Iowa Street.

No other injuries were reported. Details on the cause of the accident were not available early this morning.

Law enforcement report

¢ A 21-year-old Lawrence man was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure that occurred about 4:20 a.m. Friday in northwest Lawrence. According to a police report, a 74-year-old woman woke up to her doorbell ringing, went to the door and saw a nude man on the property. When police located the suspect, he explained that he was looking for his sister’s house, according to the report.

¢ Lawrence police arrested a 25-year-old white Lawrence man Sunday on charges of battery and obstruction, and investigators are looking into the case as a possible hate crime, according to a police report.

Police responded to Lawrence Community Shelter, 214 W. 10th St., at 2:30 p.m. Sunday after a 54-year-old black man said he was sitting inside reading a newspaper when the other man walked behind him and began hitting him in the back of the head. A witness said he saw the suspect strike the victim in the face and on the head, according to the report. A police report characterized the attack as “anti-black.”

Burglaries, thefts reported

¢ 900 block of Christie Court: A 24-year-old woman reported damage to her car and the theft of items inside between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Friday. The driver’s side door and handle were damaged and a purse and camera were taken. The total estimated value of the damage and the items taken was $1,100.

¢ 900 block of Alma Drive: A Lawrence resident reported damage to a car and items taken from inside between 11 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. Friday. A door and a window were damaged and a CD player was taken. The total estimated value of items taken was $1,570.
