Women’s Transitional Care Services received a $22,110 one-year recognition grant from the Kansas Health Foundation to fund a medical and health/wellness advocate.

WTCS is a nonprofit organization based in Lawrence offering services, support and shelter to survivors of domestic violence in Douglas, Jefferson and Franklin counties.

The medical and health/wellness program will educate residents about medical resources and treatment options by networking with local health care practitioners.

Shanna Nguyen was recently hired as the medical and health/wellness advocate. She will focus on a program to help residents make informed decisions and ensure their continued health upon leaving the shelter.
