Loans are available for freeze damage

The Kansas Farm Service Agency is making emergency loans available to help qualified producers recover from production and physical losses because of the freezing weather in April.

Producers in Douglas, Franklin and other affected counties are eligible. Loans may be used to restore or replace essential property and pay production costs related to the freeze.

Applicants can borrow up to 100 percent of actual production or physical losses, not to exceed $500,000. The rate for these loans is 3.75 percent.

Producers in eligible counties have until Feb. 15 to apply for an emergency loan. The Douglas County Farm Service Agency is at 1217 Biltmore Drive, Lawrence, and can be reached by calling 843-4260.
