Kansas soldier killed in Iraq

? Sgt. William W. Crow Jr., 28, of Grandview Plaza, was killed last week in Baghdad when an improvised explosive device hit the vehicle he was in, the military announced Monday.

He was killed Thursday. Crow joined the Army in 2001 and was serving his third deployment when he died.

His death brings the number of Fort Riley soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan to 115. As of Monday, at least 3,583 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
