Couple gives $1 million to Humane Society

? A Wichita-area couple has donated $1 million to the Kansas Humane Society to help build a new animal care center.

Wink and Libba Hartman, who live near the Sedgwick-Butler county line, announced the donation Wednesday.

George Fahnestock, co-chairman of the Kansas Humane Society’s “New Leash on Life” capital campaign, said the Hartmans’ gift will help the organization raise the remaining $3.7 million it needs to reach its $9 million goal.
