State lottery introduces 20th anniversary game

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Kansas Lottery has raised the stakes by offering its first $20 scratch-off ticket and a record prize of $200,000.

Players may enter nonwinning tickets into a second-chance drawing in which the Lottery will draw the names of 20 players.

Each of those 20 players will receive at least $20,000, and one of them will end up with $200,000.

“The $200,000 cash prize is the largest we’ve ever offered our players on a scratch ticket,” said Lottery Executive Director Ed Van Petten. “Twenty years is a milestone, and we wanted to do something really special,” he said.

Players can also win up to $20,000 instantly playing the game.

The Kansas Lottery sold its first ticket Nov. 12, 1987. Since then, it has sold more than $3 billion worth of tickets and paid $1.6 billion in prizes.
