Miscommunication kept the following members of the Oskaloosa High football program from receiving mention on this year’s Journal-World All-Area football team.

Senior running back Brandon Hawks finished 2007 with 580 yards on 131 carries and 5 TDs.

Hawks tacked on four catches for 40 more yards and had four sacks and 57 tackles on defense.

Hawks was a team captain for the Bears this season.

Senior lineman Clay Metzger was a four-year starter for the Bears, who earned first-team all-Delaware Valley honors as an offensive lineman during his junior and senior seasons.

This season, he finished with 55 tackles, three sacks and one interception in just 7 games.

Senior running back Boone Heston carried the ball 143 times for 620 yards and 9 TDs and was a dual-threat completing 24-of-53 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns.

On defense, Heston was among the team leaders with 60 tackles and finished with one interception.

Heston was a team captain this season and earned a first-team all-Delaware Valley nod at running back and second-team all-Delaware Valley recognition at linebacker.

Junior Chase Tenpenny was the Bears’ leading tackler, with 80 in 2007.

He also led the team in receptions (13 for 286 yards and 2 TDs) and averaged 40 yards-per-kick as the team’s punter.

Tenpenny earned second-team all-Delaware Valley honors as both a defensive end and a punter.
