Husband faces charges in wife’s shooting death
Wichita ? A Wichita man has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder in his wife’s shooting death.
Reginald Johnson, 38, was charged Wednesday in the death of Amy Whiteman, 36, at their house. Johnson’s bond was placed at $100,000, and his preliminary hearing was set for Sept. 5.
Authorities said Johnson walked into a Wichita police station Monday night and told police that he had hurt his wife. When police arrived at the house, they discovered that Whiteman had been shot multiple times in the torso.
She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police said the couple’s 10-year-old son, who was playing in the yard at the time of the shooting, has been placed in protective custody.
