Quantrill’s Raid and downtown on ‘iTours’

The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau announces that two new “iTours” are available for streaming or downloading from www.visitlawrence.com.

The free tours – one tracing the route of Quantrill’s Raid of the city in 1863, and another narrating the history of downtown Lawrence – are designed to bring the heritage of the region to life for visitors.

Each tour provides driving directions and narratives and can be listened to in the car or on personal iPods. In conjunction with the rollout of the new tours, iPods can be checked out from the Lawrence Visitor Information Center, 402 N. Second St. in North Lawrence, so that visitors can utilize the technology while they’re in town, even if they didn’t pack their own.

The tours were researched and authored by local historians and bureau staffers, and narrated by Lawrence residents. A historic cemeteries tour is set to be added in the coming weeks.
