Guard gets probation for shooting bank customer
Kansas City, Kan. ? A former security guard has been sentenced to three years probation for shooting a bank customer after thinking the man’s cane was a shotgun.
Clifford O’Rear was convicted in May of reckless aggravated battery for the June 2006 incident while he was working at a Bank Midwest branch.
Wyandotte County District Judge Thomas L. Boeding said he considered that the victim, who survived the shooting, had expressed no opposition to O’Rear serving probation. If O’Rear violates probation, he could go to prison for 34 months.
