State seizes ice cream store over back taxes

? The state has seized an ice cream restaurant that allegedly owes nearly $50,000 in back taxes.

Kansas Department of Revenue agents and Franklin County Sheriff’s officers took over the business and assets of Cindy’s Dairy Bar in Pamona on Tuesday for nonpayment of state sales and withholding taxes, said Freda Warfield, a spokeswoman for the Revenue Department.

They seized all known bank accounts, onsite cash, business inventory and personal property assets belonging to owner Cindy L. Horne.

According to the court records filed by the Revenue Department, the business owed $41,363 in sales taxes since June 2002 and $7,992 in other delinquent taxes since March 2002.
