— A soldier assigned to an Army unit based at Fort Riley was killed when his patrol came under enemy attack last week in Baghdad.

Pfc. Christopher M. North, 21, of Sarasota, Fla., was killed Saturday by IEDs and small arms fire, the Department of Defense said Thursday. North was a cavalry scout for the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

North joined the Army in July 2005 and was stationed at Fort Riley in December 2005, before being deployed for the first time.

He is the 95th Fort Riley soldier killed in the war, and the second from his squadron to be killed in the past two weeks.

Pfc. Aaron M. Genevie, 22, of Chambersburg, Pa., was killed April 16 when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb.
