Trooper shoots suspect after 3-county chase

? A 39-year-old woman who led authorities through a three-county chase was injured after brandishing a weapon when she was stopped, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

The woman had evaded officers Thursday evening in Barton, Stafford and Pawnee counties. Two Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were parked and attempting to put down stop sticks, the agency said in a news release.

The patrol said that after stopping, the woman pulled a handgun on the officers in a threatening manner. One trooper fired upon the vehicle.

The woman was transported to Larned and later Wichita with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office are investigating. Those agencies did not release further information Friday.
