Wichita ? A Wichita man apparently killed another man and a woman before killing himself after police broke down the door of his apartment, police said Wednesday.

Police went to the Commodore Apartments on Tuesday night after getting a call of the report of the body. Jesus Talavera, 19, was found dead inside an apartment, said Capt. Randy Landen.

During their investigation, two people urged officers to check on the woman in another apartment.

They got a key from the manager after getting no response from that apartment. The door had been chained from the inside, and police broke down the door to get in.

Police backed off when they found Charles Hankerson, 27, inside the apartment with a shotgun, Landen said. They heard a gunshot and went back inside to find Hankerson dead of a shotgun wound.

They found the body of Andrea Smithhart inside while searching the apartment. Police declined to discuss her cause of death.
