Rep. Davis running for policy chairman

? State Rep. Paul Davis, of Lawrence, is running to be the policy chairman of the House Democratic caucus.

Davis, a lawyer, won a third term in office on Nov. 7 by defeating Libertarian Marcus Kirby.

The policy chair position is vacant because of the retirement of Nancy Kirk, of Topeka.

The policy chair works with House Democrats to plan initiatives and is a part of the leadership team.

No other candidates have surfaced yet. Legislative leaders will be elected by their respective caucuses on Dec. 4.
