Restaurant inspection results online

? Once the decision has been made on where to eat, the Kansas Department of Health and Enivironment has available online inspection results of restaurants statewide.

The website is www.KSFoodSafety.org, and it features inspection reports, tips on safe handling of food and how to report food safety concerns.

“We believe this Web site will be a valuable resource for all Kansans,” said Dr. Howard Rodenberg, KDHE Director of Health.

“Whether you need information about how long to refrigerate leftovers or you are concerned about the cleanliness of a restaurant, www.KSFoodSafety.org offers understandable, up-to-date food safety information for both industry and the public,” he said.

KDHE inspects more than 10,300 food service establishments each year, including restaurants, school kitchens, caterers, special events and mobile food units.

“We receive dozens of calls each month from people wanting information about restaurants, how to properly cook and store certain foods, and how to file restaurant complaints,” said Mary Glassburner, KDHE Director of the Bureau of Consumer Health. “This Web site allows KDHE to better serve the public by providing easy access to these public records,” she said.
