Highlights from the Kansas Legislature

? Highlights of Wednesday’s activities at the Kansas Legislature:

¢ The Senate voted 30-10 to send Gov. Kathleen Sebelius a bill allowing Kansans to carry concealed guns, similar to legislation she vetoed in 2004.

¢ Some workers who are injured on the job would receive lower benefits under a bill that cleared the Legislature.

Also:

¢ The Senate gave first-round approval to legislation requiring people arrested on felony charges to submit DNA samples that could be used to determine whether they were involved in other crimes.

¢ A House panel was preparing to put the final touches on its school finance plan, and the committee chairwoman said the proposal will include funding for one year and “goals” for years two and three.
