Wichita ? Oprah Winfrey was in Wichita on Friday during a coast-to-coast drive.

“We’re on a cross-country junket to New York for the Tonys,” Winfrey said, referring to the June 11 Tony Awards that will honor the best of American theater.

Winfrey is making the trip in a red, four-door Impala. She had lunch in Dodge City before driving into Wichita late Friday afternoon.

Her impressions of western Kansas?

“I think it’s flat,” she said. “But I appreciate that it’s flat. I love the expansiveness.”
