Health policy board to hold public meetings

? The state’s new health policy board will host three public meetings this month to get input on the direction of the Kansas health system.

The town hall-style meetings of the Kansas Health Policy Authority Board will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kansas City on July 11, the Eugene Hughes Metropolitan Complex in Wichita on July 13 and the American Legion in Hays on July 27. All meetings are scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“We want to encourage the public and all health stakeholders to join us for the public meetings,” said Marcia Nielsen, interim executive director of the board.

Those wanting to testify should register by e-mailing LukeThompson@da.state.ks.us or calling (785) 296-7762. If time allows, presenters may also register at the meetings.

The board on July 1 assumed operation of the state Medicaid program and the state employee health benefits program and will promote public health strategies.
