Charge upgraded from battery to murder

? The charge against a man accused in an apparent beating that led to another man’s death was upgraded to second-degree murder.

Lance Parker, 31, had been charged with aggravated battery in the Oct. 10 attack on Scott Young, 46, of Moscow. Young, flown to a Wichita hospital after being found unconscious outside a Hugoton bar, died two weeks later.

The aggravated battery charge against Parker was filed before Young died of his injuries. The coroner’s report said the death resulted from complications caused by blunt force head injury.

The second-degree murder charge was filed Tuesday. Parker remains free on $50,000 bond.
