I-70 lanes reopened
A dispatcher with the Kansas Turnpike Authority said the eastbound lanes on Interstate 70 west of the Lecompton-Lawrence exit were opened back up for two-lane traffic Thursday night.
A three-mile stretch of eastbound lanes had been restricted to one-lane travel since Tuesday while construction workers prepared to shift traffic to the two outside lanes.
The construction is part of a project that will widen the interstate to three lanes between Topeka and Lecompton by mid-2007.
Now, eastbound and westbound traffic for a six-mile stretch between Topeka and the Lecompton-Lawrence exit is two lanes in the work zone, the dispatcher said.
