Kansas woman’s car found in Arkansas

The abandoned car of a missing Kansas woman has been found on Interstate 40 near Hazen, Ark., more than 230 miles from where she and the vehicle were last seen.

Onita Brumback, 46, of Columbus, has been missing since Feb. 3. She was last seen in Johnson, Ark., while on a trip with friends to Oklahoma.

Police say her car broke down on Interstate 540 near Johnson. The Prairie County Sheriff’s Office told the Johnson police Thursday that Brumback’s car was found by the Arkansas State Police.

Johnson police detective Denny Upton said police have no information that would indicate foul play, but he said Brumback has not contacted her family.

Police said family members know of no reason why Brumback would go to the Hazen area. They also said Brumback has physical and mental-health problems and takes medication, which she may not have with her, police said.
