Using a dog and a helicopter, police in Tonganoxie spent about three hours Sunday night and Monday morning searching for the suspect in an armed robbery at a fast-food restaurant.

The search was called off shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, and as of Monday evening no one had been arrested.

The suspect came into the Subway store at 886 Northstar Court about 9:55 p.m. Sunday saying that he was armed with a handgun. He left with an undetermined sum of money, police said. He was described as a white male in his late 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 140 to 150 pounds, wearing blue jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt with orange writing.

A helicopter from Topeka and a police dog from Olathe were called to assist in the search, which covered about a square mile near the store with barns and wooded areas.

Anyone with information is asked to call Tonganoxie police at (913) 845-2311.
