Mother found guilty in disabled son’s death

? A woman who accidentally ran over and killed her disabled son was convicted Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter.

Rachelle Bale, 31, backed over her son Shawn at a Reno County campground on Feb. 26, 2005. Shawn was unable to walk, but apparently had crawled behind the vehicle.

Investigators said Bale had admitted to drinking three to four beers within an hour of the accident.

The only testimony presented by the state at the trial was that Bale’s blood alcohol content was .14 percent, above the legal .08 limit.

Bale’s lawyer, Tim O’Keefe, questioned whether the blood sample was taken within two hours of the accident or if it had been tampered with.
