Alden ? An elderly man accused of allowing a 7-year-old girl to drive his pickup has been charged in a two-count complaint.

Alan Sleeper, 88, of Alden, was charged Nov. 16 with endangering a child and allowing an unauthorized minor to operate a motor vehicle.

Police say Sleeper was in the passenger seat when a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper pulled the girl over in late August driving the man’s truck in a rural area at 74 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Sleeper reportedly told the trooper he “didn’t want her to drive that fast.”
