K-State stadium to be renamed for Snyder

? The Kansas Board of Regents on Wednesday agreed to rename Kansas State University’s football stadium Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Snyder, who has spent 17 years with KSU football, announced this week he will retire.

The Regents also signed off on its list of legislative proposals for the upcoming session.

They included:

¢ A plan to give universities, on a campus-by-campus basis, the authority to determine their insurance needs and to buy all insurance products, except employee health insurance.

¢ A plan to credit the interest on nonstate general funds back to the universities to help mitigate future tuition increases.

¢ A plan enabling the Board of Regents to obtain health insurance for all students of Regents institutions, including graduate teaching assistants and graduate research assistants.

¢ A plan that would give Regents institutions the authority to sell land received from gifts or trusts in the open market without further legislative approval.

The Board of Regents is expected to discuss a plan for how to address deferred maintenance on the state’s university campuses.
