K.C. woman defrauded in Internet scheme

? A woman was charged Friday with a felony count of scheming to defraud after she allegedly sold $27,000 worth of clothing and other items on the Internet, but never delivered the goods, a prosecutor said.

Maren Kozbial, 24, of Glen Cove, was scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead, Nassau County Dist. Atty. Denis Dillon said. If convicted, she could face up to four years in prison.

Kozbial is accused of offering bulk-quantity designer clothing for sale over her own Web sites and by auction over the eBay Web site. Prosecutors said 17 people were victimized in the scheme, including:

¢ A resident of Somerset, England, who purchased 25 Abercrombe & Fitch jackets for $697.18

¢ A resident of Kansas City, Mo., who bought three Gucci and two Prada bags for $1,422.50.

¢ A resident of Eden Prairie, Minn., who purchased seven items of Tumi luggage for $3,011.

¢ A resident of Johannesburg, South Africa, who purchased five Gucci bags for $1,170.

¢ A resident of Valley College, N.Y., who purchased 84 pairs of designer jeans for $4,992.80.
