Wayward deer bursts into store
Overland Park ? Shoppers at a suburban Kansas City mall were surprised Monday when a buck deer smashed through a glass door and ran through the women’s department of Dillard’s.
Witnesses said the animal struck some clothing racks and a wall before turning around and leaving the same way it entered.
No one was hurt and the store remained open.
The deer was not immediately located.
Three days earlier, two women escaped uninjured after a young male deer crashed through a ground-floor window in downtown Topeka.
Police said the deer was seen wandering along a city street and earlier ran into the front door of a bank building and a law office window. Neither strike caused any damage.
The deer then struck the Columbian Building and died in the office of the Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved.
Authorities said this is the breeding season, and it’s common for male deer to get lost.
