Former official sentenced to jail

? The former director of Garden City Regional Airport has been sentenced to jail and probation for threatening and harassing women.

Ron Hall, 37, was ordered Monday in Finney County District Court to serve a month in jail, two years probation and perform 200 hours of community service.

In an agreement with prosecutors, Hall pleaded no contest in August to one count of felony criminal threat, one count of criminal trespassing and three counts of phone harassment. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors agreed to drop more than 40 charges, including felony criminal threat.

Hall, who has been living in southern Michigan while free on bond, became the city airport director in September 2003.

Police said the investigation began in February when two Garden City women told police they had been harassed by Hall numerous times over the telephone.

Prosecutors said one woman claimed Hall threatened to kill her in December. She testified during previous hearings that he told her no one would believe he had threatened her because he was a city official.
