Police chief found dead; heart attack suspected

? Police Chief Ken Horn, 30, was found dead at his home, apparently after suffering a massive heart attack.

Horn’s girlfriend found him unconscious and slumped over his computer about 7 p.m. Friday. He was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo., where he was declared dead.

Mayor Scott Donaldson said doctors believe Horn died of a heart attack, but an autopsy will be performed.

Horn had just returned from working out before his girlfriend found him, Donaldson said.

Horn, who had been chief for only three weeks, previously had been a Baxter Springs police officer and a Cherokee County Deputy Sheriff.
