Parts of metro get 6 inches of snow

? A narrow band of heavy snow dumped as much as 6 inches on some parts of the Kansas City area on Monday, while other parts of the city got a light dusting or nothing at all.

The most significant snowfall was in the extreme southern part of the metro area, burying places like Belton and Greenwood beneath 1 to 2 inches of snow an hour, the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill said.

“Some storm systems do that,” meteorologist David Beusterien said. “It’s a little unusual, but not rare. Some systems are capable of setting up a very narrow band that just sits in one location. Those bands are difficult to forecast in advance.”
