Shooting marks city’s first homicide of year

? A 41-year-old southwest Kansas man has been arrested for the fatal shooting of an acquaintance during an argument about money this week, authorities said.

Prosecutors said they expected to charge the suspect with first-degree murder today.

The man is suspected of shooting Lucky Kingstone, 44, on Tuesday evening. Garden City police Capt. Mike Utz said Kingstone died later that night at St. Catherine Hospital from a shotgun wound to the abdomen.

Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of first-degree murder at Kingstone’s home in Garden City. The suspect also was arrested on allegations of burglary, aggravated assault, misdemeanor criminal damage and misdemeanor theft, Utz said. Bond is set at $150,000.

The killing marked the first homicide of the year in Garden City, Utz said.

The suspect allegedly threatened his brother-in-law with the gun first before shooting Kingstone. Police are unsure why Kingstone was shot when the argument over money was between the brothers-in-law.
