Kansas City, Mo. The 1950s standard "Kansas City," which lauds this town's wine and the jazz district, has finally been given its due.
The City Council voted 11-0 on Thursday to make the ditty the official song of the place for which it is named. It replaces "Kansas City, My Hometown," a local barbershop-style number that became the city song more than a half-century ago.
