‘Kansas City’ made city’s official song

? The 1950s standard “Kansas City,” which lauds this town’s wine and the jazz district, has finally been given its due.

The City Council voted 11-0 on Thursday to make the ditty the official song of the place for which it is named. It replaces “Kansas City, My Hometown,” a local barbershop-style number that became the city song more than a half-century ago.
