Kansan gets life without parole in Omaha murder

Convicted murderer and methamphetamine dealer Samson Aldaco of Garden City on Tuesday was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of an Omaha man in 2001.

Douglas County, Neb., authorities said Stace Straw was shot in the head when a group of men barged into his home trying to collect a drug debt.

Aldaco, 31, also was sentenced to 10 years in prison, to be served consecutively, for the use of a firearm to commit a felony. In addition, he was sentenced to five years for being a felon in possession of a firearm and one year for possession of a controlled substance, both to be served concurrently.

He was convicted of the charges in January 2004.

“This is a case in which a meth dealer recruited and armed a gang of thugs to come to Nebraska and kill a man for drug debts,” Nebraska Atty. Gen. Jon Bruning said. “His conviction and sentence should send a clear message to would-be traffickers that Nebraska will tirelessly pursue those who bring this scourge to our communities.”
