Gunman kills two, injures third on road

? Kansas City police are looking for a gunman who shot and killed two women and injured a third as they traveled in separate vehicles early Friday.

Police Sgt. Doug Neimeier said the shootings appeared random.

One of the dead victims was identified as Raevena McClenton, 27, of Kansas City. The other two victims were not identified pending notification of their families.

Police were investigating whether the shootings were connected to a series of crimes that began with a carjacking shortly before 6 a.m. They said a man jumped into a red Ford Escort and fought with the driver, who eventually fled.

Half an hour later, someone driving a small red car fired between three and five shots into a house. No one was reported injured.

Soon after, a man driving a small red car shot into a vehicle with three passengers. McClenton was struck in the head while sitting in the front passenger seat, and a bullet hit the driver in the face. The driver was recovering in an area hospital, and the third passenger, McClenton’s mother, was unharmed, police said.

Later, witnesses said someone in a small red car shot a woman sitting in the passenger seat of a truck traveling on the same road as the vehicle McClenton was in. The bullet struck the woman in the head and she later died at Truman Medical Center. The driver and a third passenger were not hurt.

Police found the red Escort at 7:45 a.m., crashed into two parked vehicles. Witnesses said they heard a gunshot shortly before the wreck and said the driver fled. Investigators said they didn’t have any reports of the final gunshot striking anyone.
