Rallies in Topeka mark anniversary of Roe v. Wade

TOPEKA — People from across Kansas, and on both sides of the issue of abortion, were arriving at the Statehouse today to mark the 31st anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.

Anti-abortion groups, such as Kansans for Life and Orthodox Christians for Life had informational tables set up in the Capitol rotunda.

Meanwhile, abortion rights supporters planned a rally on the south steps of the Capitol and then a luncheon with legislators.

The demonstrations by both sides occur annually on the anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision.
