McConnell air base to get new commander

Col. Cathy Clothier will take command of McConnell Air Force Base and its 22nd Air Refueling Wing this summer.

Clothier, returning for her third assignment at McConnell, now heads the 319th Operations Group at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. Effective June 24 she will succeed Col. Michelle Johnson, leaving after two years to become director of personnel for the Headquarters Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.

Clothier was first assigned to McConnell in 1983 as a co-pilot, aircraft commander, instructor and evaluator in the KC-135. She left for other duty in 1989, returning in 1995 as commander of the 22nd Operations Support Squadron.

Two years later she was named commander of the 344th Air Refueling Squadron.

Topeka

Baker’s nursing school schedules open house

Baker University’s School of Nursing is planning an open house for prospective students Friday.

The school, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, 1500 S.W. 10th St., will conduct the open house in its Pozez Education Building. Beginning at 3 p.m., visitors can tour facilities, meet current nursing students and hear talks from faculty and staff.
