Juvenile justice board names superintendents

? Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority Commissioner Denise Everhart has appointed superintendents for the state juvenile corrections facilities.

Amy Smith, who had been acting superintendent at the Atchison Juvenile Correctional Facility, is now the permanent superintendent.

Michael Dempsey is the new superintendent at the Topeka Juvenile Correctional Facility. He had been associate superintendent of the Missouri Department of Corrections’ Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green.

Robert Rivenburg will be the superintendent at the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex in Topeka, a maximum-security facility scheduled to open in July. Rivenburg is a Kansas native who has worked in corrections more than 12 years.

John Brady, a longtime corrections administrator, will take over the Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility. He has worked as superintendent of the Topeka facility since November 2000.
