KANSAS CITY, KAN. ? A 27-year-old Lawrence man pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court to a count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Justin C. White was stopped by a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper in January in Wyandotte County for a not having tail lights on his car. A subsequent search of the car led to the discovery of a semiautomatic rifle. White had been convicted of felony burglary in April 2002 in Douglas County.

White faces a maximum of 10 years in prison without parole. Sentencing is set for Oct. 20.
