Kansans urged to submit designs for quarter

Kansans are urged to submit designs for the Kansas quarter, which will be released in 2005.

“I encourage young and old to sumbit their ideas,” Sebelius said. “You don’t even need to draw to participate. Just write down what symbols, images or words you think best represent Kansas.”

Submissions must be made by Sept. 10 and mailed to:

The Kansas Commemorative Coin Design Commission
c/o State Historical Society
6425 SW 6th Ave.
Topeka, KS 66615-1099

The commission will select five design narratives and Kansas high school students will then vote on the final design in April 2004.

To get a form to make a submission, go to Sebelius’ website at www.ksgovernor.org or call the governor’s office at 1-800-748-4408.
