Suspect arrested in alcohol death

? An Ogden man has been arrested in connection with the death of a teenager who authorities say died after being forced to drink large amounts of alcohol at a party.

The 22-year-old suspect was arrested Sunday on charges of second-degree murder and child endangerment and furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was released on $100,000 bond.

Riley County Atty. William E. Kennedy said the suspect had not been formally charged and that he wouldn’t know whether to charge the suspect until he had seen the entire police report.

Curtis L. McCracken, 17, Ogden, was found unconscious at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday at an Ogden home. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died there, said Larry Couchman, director of Riley County EMS.

McCracken’s body was taken to the Shawnee County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Riley County Police Capt. Gary Grubbs said officers were told McCracken had attended a party in Ogden, where he was forced to drink a large quantity of alcohol. The officers said they believed that the “vast quantity of alcohol” had contributed to his death.

It is unclear how much police believed McCracken was forced to drink, or where the party had taken place.
