Lawrence baseball loses 3-0 to Olathe West in regional tournament
Lawrence baseball’s season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to No. 1 Olathe West in the regional tournament at the College Boulevard Activity Center on Wednesday.
The Lions finished with three hits and no walks on offense while being struck out 12 times. At the mound, pitcher Brady Wollesen started and threw 4.2 innings, allowing seven hits and three walks against four strikeouts. Logan Sheldon pitched the final 1.1 innings and allowed one hit and one walk.
Neither team scored a run until the Owls scored three in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Owls had four hits through the first four innings, while Jaxon Becker recorded the only hit for the Lions in that time.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Owls started two singles and a walk with one out. A double with the bases loaded brought in three runs, although the Lions were able to get the second out of the inning. A single followed the hit, but the Lions closed the inning with a fielder’s choice.
Josh Galbreath started the seventh with a single to give the Lions some life, but Olathe West’s Treyton DesLauriers threw three-straight strikeouts to end the game and Lawrence’s season.
