A Douglas County attorney asked the court on Tuesday to delay a teen murder trial. The request, due to an unspecified medical issue of the attorney, comes just two weeks ahead of the trial’s scheduled start date.
The trial is for Cir Allen Keith Glover, 19, of Lawrence, who is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Isiah Neal on June 13, 2024, at 2406 Alabama St., as the Journal-World reported. The trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 27.
Glover’s attorney, Michael Clarke, filed a motion to continue Tuesday afternoon after meeting with Deputy District Attorney David Greenwald and Senior Assistant District Attorney Ricardo Leal in the chambers of Judge Stacey Donovan.

In the motion, Clarke asks for the delay “due to medical issues experienced by Mr. Clarke.” The motion states that “The State has been consulted and does not object.”
Greenwald and Leal could be seen outside of Donovan’s courtroom on Tuesday afternoon explaining the issue to Neal’s mother, Natasha Neal, and other supporters, including the parents of another teen who was shot and killed in 2024, 15-year-old Brianna Higgins.
Clarke’s motion is scheduled to be heard by Donovan during a pre-trial conference on Friday. Glover is being held on a $1 million bond.
If the trial is delayed, it will be the second major murder trial delayed this month after the trial of Rodney Marshall, 52, of Lawrence, was delayed on Jan. 6. Marshall is charged with two counts of murder and multiple counts of attempted murder in connection with the shooting deaths of William D. O’Brien, 43, of Lawrence, and Shelby McCoy, 52, of Lawrence, on July 31, 2022, at separate locations, before leading police on a lengthy chase, during which he allegedly shot at them.
Marshall’s attorneys, Cline Boone and Matthew Cohen, asked the court to delay the trial just days before it was to begin to allow more time to review evidence, as the Journal-World reported.
Clarke had originally been appointed to the Marshall case in 2022 but withdrew from that case in February 2023 after Marshall had a physical altercation with Clarke and co-counsel, Carol Cline.
Marshall is being held on a $1.5 million bond. His trial was rescheduled for March 31.
